What You Will Be Doing:
We are seeking a Senior Data Engineer to join a highly collaborative team focused on creating distributed data analysis capabilities. This role involves working with large datasets from genome sequencing, crop field trials, and manufacturing, driving innovation in agricultural solutions. The ideal candidate will apply deep knowledge of algorithms, data structures, and cloud infrastructure to deliver advanced data solutions.
Key Responsibilities:
- Be a critical senior member of a data engineering team focused on creating distributed analysis capabilities around a large variety of datasets
- Take pride in software craftsmanship, apply a deep knowledge of algorithms and data structures to improve and innovate continuously
- Work with other top-level talent solving a wide range of complex and unique challenges that have real-world impact
- Explore relevant technology stacks to find the best fit for each dataset
- Pursue opportunities to present our work at relevant technical conferences
- Develop distributed analysis tools for diverse datasets
- Build and maintain cloud-based infrastructure on platforms like AWS, GCP, or Azure
- Utilize Go, RESTful APIs, Apache Kafka, and containerized applications (Docker)
- Data modeling for large-scale relational or NoSQL databases
Required Skills & Experience:
- 7+ years in software engineering
- 2+ years with Go
- Experience with RESTful API development
- Experience with Apache Kafka and stream processing
- Familiarity with containerized applications (Docker)
- Cloud infrastructure (AWS, GCP, Azure)
- Data modeling (relational or NoSQL)
Desired Skills & Experience:
- Protocol buffers, gRPC
- Google Cloud Platform, Kubernetes, Apache Beam
- Bioinformatics or scientific dataset experience
Pay: $77 – $110 /hr.
