What You Will Be Doing:
The successful candidate will have the ability to handle the following paralegal responsibilities:
- Analyze and respond appropriately to legal requests for documents and information with support and guidance from attorneys as needed.
- Review and collect responsive records from a variety of databases and prepare documents for production to external parties.
- Draft letters, pleadings, and other responsive documents as needed.
- Support special projects and complete high-level administrative tasks, as needed.
- Analyze legal documents (including subpoenas or other court orders) and provide summaries, guidance, or recommendations to partners in the Home Office and branch teams.
- Contact and respond professionally to questions from branches, other Divisions, attorneys, government agencies, and other actors.
- Conduct legal research with guidance from attorneys.
- Acquire and maintain knowledge of state and federal statutes and requirements, and best practices in the areas of discovery, eDiscovery, third-party requests for documents, conservatorships, guardianships, and other relevant matters.
- Acquire and maintain knowledge regarding the operation of client accounts and the firm.
- Learn and understand various electronic systems utilized by the firm and leverage systems and relationships to gather relevant documents and information.
- Develop and maintain strong professional relationships with associates throughout the firm and outside counsel, vendors, courts, and other third parties.
Required Skills & Experience:
- 3+ years of paralegal experience.
- Ability to comprehend legal documents.
- Ability to handle matters independently with minimal oversight.
- Ability to accurately assess risk and prioritize work.
- Ability to organize and summarize information.
- Strong verbal and written communication skills and strong interpersonal skills.
- Proficient in Microsoft applications and Adobe Acrobat.
- Commitment to a high level of ethics, professionalism, and confidentiality.
Desired Skills & Experience:
- College degree or paralegal certification.
- Experience with litigation and/or regulatory matters.
- Exposure to third-party legal support applications such as OnIt/NetDocs and Westlaw.
Pay: $25.38 – $36.25 /hr.
