What You Will Be Doing:
The primary purpose of this contractor position is to maintain the health, safety, and environmental performance,of personnel, contractors, and visitors by maintaining compliance with applicable health, safety, and environmental regulations as mandated by Federal, State, and local agencies. Help implement local programs and initiatives to help the Indianola plant site achieve established safety and health goals, objectives, and support programs of the HSE department.
Key Responsibilities:
- Ensure policies, procedures, equipment, and training are available and in place to ensure compliance with all OSHA and EPA regulations as well as corporate reporting requirements and industry best practices.
- Lead the development and implementation of an upgraded HSE management system
- Maintain accident prevention programs; lead incident investigations when incidents do occur, and drive corrective and preventive actions to reduce reoccurrences.
- Develop and deliver various employee and contractor HSE-related training.
- Perform and document Job Hazard Analysis, equipment safety reviews, and other similar processes to identify and mitigate risks. Develop administrative and engineering controls to maintain regulatory compliance and minimize HSE risk.
- Participate with cross-functional teams and/or project-specific groups assigned to drive changes.
- Collect, analyze, and submit data necessary to support the BaySIS extra-financial reporting systems, as well as support the communication of HSE-related performance within the site and Product Supply organizations.
- Take part in various inspection activities related to facilities, machinery and safety equipment on a scheduled basis to identify and correct potential hazards and ensure compliance with applicable regulations. Report and follow-up on actions identified to mitigate risks and maintain compliance.
- Perform and/or assist with creating and coordinating site emergency response and evacuation programs.
Required Skills & Experience:
- Bachelor's degree in Safety Management, Safety Science, Safety Engineering, or a related field
- 3-4 years of experience in a safety specialist or manager role
- Strong knowledge of OSHA and EPA regulations
- Proficiency in conducting job hazard analyses and risk assessments
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team
Desired Skills & Experience:
- Certified Safety Professional (CSP) or similar certification
- Experience with global harmonization standards (GHS)
- Knowledge of behavior-based safety programs
- Experience with environmental management systems
Pay: $28.70 – $41.00 /hr.
