What You Will Be Doing:
We are looking for a highly skilled Geospatial Data Engineer to design, build, and support best practices in geospatial solutions. This remote position (100% from U.S. locations) will focus on the development, deployment, and maintenance of geospatial data technology, collaborating with data engineering and product teams to ensure high-quality geospatial data solutions.
Key Responsibilities:
- Design geospatial data approaches using FOSS4G technologies.
- Deploy and maintain containerized platforms within Kubernetes.
- Create, document, and review codebase features, enhancements, and fixes.
- Support GIS technology updates, contributing to innovative geospatial solutions.
- Mentor other engineers in geospatial practices.
Required Skills & Experience:
- Bachelor’s in Computer Science, GIS, Geography, or related field.
- 5+ years of experience in geospatial data engineering or similar.
- Proficient in geospatial data structures (vector/raster) and OGC services (WMS, WFS).
- Familiarity with GeoServer deployments in Kubernetes.
- Proficient in Python or Golang.
- Strong Kubernetes experience and container lifecycle knowledge.
- Familiarity with CI/CD and observability concepts (e.g., Datadog, OpenTelemetry).
- Expertise with relational databases and geospatial SQL/PostGIS.
- Experience with Google Cloud Platform or AWS.
Desired Skills & Experience:
- Open-source geospatial analysis tools (QGIS, GRASS GIS).
- Git/GitHub, ML/AI, GeoParquet/Avro file formats.
- Knowledge of Kafka, Terraform, and IaC tools.
- Background in agriculture or related domain a plus.
Pay: $73.50 – $105.00 /hr.
