What You Will Be Doing:

We are seeking an experienced Data Engineer II with expertise in enterprise data modeling and analytics to join our Cloud Data Engineering team. You will design, develop, and implement enterprise data models using Databricks and Azure SQL technologies to support advanced analytics, reporting, and data science requirements. This role requires collaboration with IT, analytics, and business stakeholders to create optimized, high-performing data models that align with enterprise strategies and analytics goals.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Protects our customers, our employees, and our brands by incorporating security and compliance in all decisions; ensures security policy and procedure requirements are met; continuously identifies opportunities for improving security and implements strategies to improve our security posture.
  • Provides technical expertise for the planning, analysis, design, implementation, and control of the organization's data.
  • Handles complex or critical data management initiatives that typically involve multiple disciplines and multiple business groups, including responsibility for database design, integration, source-to-target mapping, data modeling, and data rules management (access by roles and geography, data quality/validation rules, measurements).
  • Consults with multiple client groups to provide solutions, implementing long-range internal and enterprise data architecture and management strategies.
  • Understand and translate business needs into data models supporting long-term enterprise solutions.
  • Closely interact with business partners, stakeholders, functional experts, business analysts, other contractors, and engineers to understand the system requirements and architect and design the data model and database schema based on the requirements.
  • Collaborate with the Analytics Team to ensure optimized use of Analytics-Specific Data Architectures – striving for efficient, performant footprint
  • Design data models to best support the analytics needs of the business, consistent with data strategy principles
  • Collaborate with IT and analytics team to arrive at a mutually agreeable data model architecture, approve specs, and review/test/audit post-implementation to ensure objectives have been met

Required Skills & Experience:

  • Strong data analysis skills including oral and written communication skills to effectively communicate with IT and business representatives.
  • Strong enterprise data modeling expertise
  • Must have 3 or more years of experience using data modeling tools and methodologies
  • Must have 3 or more years of experience writing and tuning complex SQLs, and the ability to analyze and make recommendations on results.
  • Expertise in building conceptual data models through to physical data models and DDL/DML generation
  • Knowledge of building data assets that are strategic, trusted, and agile with governance for data accountability and responsibility
  • Working knowledge of modeling data access layers in an enterprise lakehouse environment
  • Must be able to collaborate in a team-oriented environment as well as work independently with direction.
  • Well-versed in different data modeling methodologies (3NF, Dimensional, Data Vault)
  • Experience with cloud data lake solutions
  • Expertise with cloud data, enterprise data lake, and business intelligence development technologies.
  • Must be committed to incorporating security into all decisions and daily job responsibilities
  • Experience using either PowerDesigner or Erwin modeling software
  • Expertise in performing data analysis and data profiling across a diverse set of data
  • Experience working within a medallion architecture

Desired Skills & Experience:

  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, or related field.
  • Familiarity with tools like Teradata, PowerBI, or SSRS.
  • Experience designing data solutions within a medallion architecture.
  • Knowledge of cloud lakehouse technologies and advanced BI platforms.

Pay: $50.32 – $71.88 /yr.
