Technology Partners is currently seeking a talented Engineer 2 - Database Administration.
What You Will Be Doing:
You will leverage your data design and development expertise as part of a team producing an enhanced method in support of CarShare. You will maintain the physical data model, queries, and service interface for the loading, querying, and maintenance of data in a Postgres database, XML files, and other data sources. You will also coordinate data management tasks in support of data quality efforts, tune queries for optimal performance, develop DDL and DML scripts for Postgres. As a key leader within our development team, you will be involved in all aspects of the solution from UI, middle tier and the backend database. We will rely on your leadership and innovative problem solving skills using a variety of Open Source and Enterprise level technologies. You will be part of a team, which is responsible for all phases of an emerging agile software development lifecycle.
What We Are Looking For:
Applicants for employment in the U.S. Must be presently authorized to work in the U.S. Without a requirement for work authorization sponsorship by our company for this position now or in the future
3+ years Postgres DBA hands on experience
Expert Postgres DBA knowledge including upgrades, backup/recovery, patching strategies/capabilities and day to day support of application development personnel
Strong understanding of Postgres performance tuning (partitioning, striping, OLAP, data warehouses, data marts and other advanced physical data modeling techniques)
Strong understanding of SQL tuning and optimization of query plans
Strong understanding of ensuring data integrity including entity, referential integrity, check constraints and database triggers
Proven knowledge and experience in designing database schemas to align with development and business goals and objectives
Proven knowledge in database auditing and capability to document compliance
Strong understanding of database capacity planning and data purging techniques
Advanced knowledge of character set encodings
Strong and proactive leadership ability
Strong communication skills with the ability to transcend the organization with appropriate levels of detail
Strong teamwork, decision-making, documentation and analytical skills
Must be committed to incorporating security into all decisions and daily job responsibilities
It Would Be Great, But Not Required, If You Had:
UNIX scripting skills are preferred
Experience with Postgres cluster is strongly preferred
Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Computer Information Systems, Management Information Systems, or related field preferred
Experience working in an Agile environment is a plus
