Technology Partners is currently seeking a talented person for a Database Admin - SQL Server/Postgres position.
What You Will Be Doing:
You will be supporting multiple databases and servers within an enterprise environment. You will do performance Tuning, Query Optimization, using Performance Monitor, SQL Profiler and other related monitoring and troubleshooting tools. You will detect and troubleshoot SQL Server related CPU, memory, I/O, disk space and other resource contention. You will do SQL server maintenance: backups, restores, recovery models, database shrink operations, DBCC commands, Database mirroring concepts, replication. You will be implementing operational automation. You will create indexes, index management, integrity checks, configuration, patching. You will also do SQL Development - ability to write and troubleshoot SQL code and design (stored procedures, functions, tables, views, triggers, indexes, constraints). You will do documentation skills for processes and procedures. You will perform application security configuration and administration. You will be developing and implementing backup and recovery strategies. You will develop database solutions by designing proposed system; defining database physical structure and functional capabilities, security, back-up, and recovery specifications. You will maintain database performance by identifying and resolving production and application development problems; calculating optimum values for parameters; evaluating, integrating, and installing new releases, completing maintenance, answering user questions. You will design and implement long-term strategic goals and short-term tactical plans for managing and maintaining corporate database systems and software. You will develop and execute test plans to check infrastructure and database technical performance. You will report on findings and make recommendations for improvement. You will also develop and manage a database capacity planning. You will also develop standards for processes, procedures, and expectations. You will scale the SQL Server infrastructure as business demands. You will be documenting database structure, procedures and processes.
What We Are Looking For:
  • Two year associates degree or equivalent industry training/experience, Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Systems (or equivalent) preferred
  • 8+ years of experience in database development and support of MS SQL Server environments
  • 2+ years of experience in database development and support of PostgreSQL
  • 2+ years of experience supporting Microsoft Dynamics AX databases - AX
  • Knowledge of SQL Server tools
  • Enterprise database backup and recovery solutions
  • Participate or lead database-related projects
  • Enterprise level database performance and tuning
  • Enterprise level monitoring
  • Enterprise based security management
  • Familiarity with a variety of user and server based operating systems (Windows, Linux, Unix) including commands and utilities to manage them
  • Change management
  • Reporting and metrics
  • Disaster recovery planning and implementation
  • Automation of processes
  • Familiarity with:
  • PCI, HIPAA and other Security Compliance
  • Ability to work alone and with a team
  • Logic based troubleshooting skills
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills.
  • Project management skills
  • Willingness to devote significant time to personal and professional development.
  • Willingness to work outside normal business hours as required to complete projects.
  • Ability to lift and carry items up to 50 pounds.
  • Microsoft MCSA SQL Server certification preferred
